Meet Our Mentors

I am a business management major in the Baker management 4+1 BBA and MBA degree program (Owosso-online). Being a mentee was the most fulfilling part of my academic support system. Having a mentor that I could rely on to keep me encouraged and remind me to stay focused has kept me inspired and driven to achieve my academic and career goals.

That is why I decided to become a Baker College PROUD Peer Mentor so that I can be a part of the academic support system that other students need. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets the most. I love shopping, traveling, fashion, family, cooking, hanging out at home, reading, growing plants, playing video games, and watching TV. I look forward to working with and meeting future mentees and mentors.

I grew up in the small town of Lawrence, Michigan and am pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Shopping, going to the beach and hanging out with friends are just a few of the things I like to do in my spare time.

As a Student Life Leadership Council Member, a Resident Assistant and a Work-Study at the Muskegon campus, I have had the opportunity to get involved in many campus activities and meet amazing people. Being a PROUD Peer Mentor has been very eye opening and allowed me to interact with students one-on-one.

I live in Indiana with my two cats. After graduating with my Bachelor’s in May 2021 from Indiana State University, I decided to continue my education to earn my Master’s in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from Baker! My passion is helping students and growing with them as well. Mental health and academics are the two things I am most passionate about.

I started to pursue my BSN in 2020 and was accepted into the Nursing program in 2022. At my campus, I am known for my stress baking and my obsession with glitter/rhinestones. Every week my cohorts and the staff on campus get to enjoy the baked goods I create which allows me to focus on those important exams. When I am not studying and baking, I spend my free time with my husband and our 3 daughters, and our very overweight Australian Shepard. We love to host BBQs, watch football (GO BLUE!!!), and play games, especially video games (currently obsessed with Hogwarts Legacy), I am a nerd at heart and think of myself as a non-judgmental open-book. My favorite philosophy is "work hard, play hard" because I love to have fun while learning/working and always try to find the silver lining in everything. In addition to being a Peer Mentor, I am also a Baker College Student Ambassador and also take part in my campus' SNA meetings and participate in the events we plan. Learning to balance my personal life and my school life was not an easy task but with the right determination and support system it can be done. Having someone to cheer you on or be a shoulder to lean on during a rough day can make a huge impact on your academic success. With my passion to help others, being a Baker College PROUD Peer Mentor gives me the chance to make that difference.

I am very passionate about helping others and love to see students accomplish their goals, both personally and academically. As a future Nurse, I am excited for my future and the opportunity to continue to help others.

I am getting an Associate's degree in business administration through the running start program. This degree has helped me figure out how to navigate through college, and has helped me learn how to balance school on top of personal life. I became a PROUD peer mentor here at Baker because I wanted to help others with navigating their college life to have as little stress as possible.

I am 36 years old and starting my fourth semester in the BSN program in the fall of 23. I’m celebrating my 14th wedding anniversary this year and together we have four great kids ages 18, 11, 9, and 5. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, going to the movies, fishing, biking, camping, hiking (really any outdoor activity), and hanging out with my family. Game nights, movie nights, beach days, and camping trips with my family are the food that feeds my soul. I also find a lot of value in exercising as I believe it is as good for the mind as it is for the body. Something I have learned about myself while enrolled in the nursing programs is that I really enjoy the learning process as well as teaching. I have been a part of many study groups and one thing that is true about all of them is that whether you are the one teaching or listening, we are all deepening our understanding of the material. I am excited to be a part of the Baker mentorship program and looking forward to meeting you!
