Photonics technicians build, test, calibrate, and maintain laser and electro-optic devices and systems that generate, transmit, and manipulate light. The use of photonics and laser technology is growing, with new applications being developed every day — from using lasers in manufacturing and the medical field to nanotechnology and solar cells. Graduates of the program can continue their education with the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree.
