Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology

A master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology identifies and provides students with a critical path for professional development, credibility in the field, and clear and defined professional identities in their areas of specialization. This program addresses the study of behavior and performance in the workplace and other organizational settings, through the application of the theories, methods and principles of psychology to individuals, teams and organizations. This specialization is not intended to prepare you for licensure as a clinical/ counseling psychologist, but rather to be an I/O psychology practitioner who applies psychological principles for organizational success.

Program Outcomes*

By the end of the program, students will...

  1. Describe the psychological underpinnings, theories, foundations, structure, and concepts within the discipline of I/O psychology.
  2. Apply ethical principles, legal standards, and APA guidelines to assess professional behavior and practice.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of how culture and diversity affect thoughts, behaviors, attitudes, and decisions within the workplace.
  4. Apply I/O psychology principles within individual, group, organizational, and global contexts.
  5. Analyze scholarly literature and research to critically assess relevant theory and concepts, to support positions and inform decisions.
  6. Critically analyze psychological theories, models, and concepts to develop effective responses to industrial/organizational needs, issues, and concerns.
  7. Analyze data to make conclusions, assess needs, inform decisions, and/or create solutions.
  8. Communicate effectively using the professional standards of the discipline.
