The BC Student Life Leadership Council (SLLC) is an opportunity for students to develop their personal and professional leadership through campus and community involvement. As part of the SLLC, students will collaborate with others to elevate their skills through training, professional development, social networking, and service.

SLLC members will have the opportunity to:

  • Plan and lead campus events.
  • Showcase events via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Partner with student clubs and organizations.
  • Work with campus and community leaders.
  • Promote wellness throughout the campus.

SLLC Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a prospective residence hall student (admitted to BC) or a current/returning residence hall student. Note: For the 2023-24 academic year, SLLC is available at the following campuses: Cadillac, Muskegon, Owosso and Port Huron.
  • Must be enrolled at full-time status (subject to program rotation).
  • Must be in good academic standing.

How do I apply to be a member of the SLLC?

Your submission should include a 300-word essay describing why you are a good candidate for the Student Life Leadership Council. Applications for the 2023-24 academic year should be submitted no later than June 30, 2023.

How long can I serve on the SLLC?

Up to four consecutive years provided you continue to meet all eligibility requirements.

Can I serve as an SLLC member and as a Resident Assistant (RA) or Student Ambassador?

Eligible students may only hold one position. However, because of similarities in responsibilities, all Resident Assistants will also be a member of the Student Life Leadership Council on their campus.
